Gauteng Department Of Education

The circumstances and context that led to this initiation of the Gauteng Schools Readiness 2016 was for the Gauteng Department of Education to give the status on state of education in the Gauteng Province.

State of education in the Gauteng province and feedback on the Gauteng School Readiness 2016 programme and the basis being:

  • South African Constitution (Bill of Rights) Education states
  • 29. (1) Everyone has the right—
    (a) to a basic education, including adult basic education; and
    (b) to further education, which the state, through reasonable measures, must make progressively available and accessible. Therefore it is the duty of those in power to make that possible as they have been appointed by the public to serve them.

The central ingredient of overcoming this challenge was through educating the masses about the importance of early registration; the solution that the department of education thought would be of best to address this challenge was through appointing an agency that would be able to come up with strategic solutions to educate the masses via various media platforms including radio and print. The information distributed to educate the masses involved the department’s implementation processes towards their “readiness” for 2016. We developed the Gauteng School Readiness “GSR” brand and named the first one GSR16. This would make communications easier in the future.
